Tom Strutton was born in Southampton, Hampshire in 1982. He attended Winchester School of Art to study Art History in 2001-02 and Royal Holloway to study Music in 2003-06. In 2011 he achieved a post-graduate diploma in Cultural and Arts Management from The University of Winchester. He is member of the International Guild of Realism and the UK Coloured Pencil Society and was a finalist in the 15th International Arc Salon. Tom’s work has been published in several popular art magazines and he sells to private collectors around the world.

Tom started using coloured pencil in 2015, having previously been a watercolourist. His coloured pencil drawings are rich, detailed and take inspiration from oil painting to emphasise the solidity of his subjects. Establishing himself as a bird artist at the outset of his career, he has since demonstrated proficiency in still life and other traditional academic genres. Realistic tone and texture are at the heart of his drawings, which typically take between 4-6 weeks to complete. Tom is proud to be part of a growing movement of talented coloured pencil artists showing their work in international exhibitions alongside long-established mediums.
